Browsing Hacker News the other day, I read the most upvoted comment and moved on, only to come back later to find comments that it was LLM generated text.
The signs were there, I just didn't notice, I still had a higher mental bar for HN.
I was clearly not the only one since it seems to have triggered a "Dead Internet Theory" blog post that also got upvoted to the frontpage.
I feel like AI is taking away the few joys I had left on the internet, I browsed today HN and had an eerie feeling, it felt empty.
I don't propose a solution, maybe there isn't one, maybe it's for the better, talking in person was always better in the first place.
I guess that like so many people from history, some of us will reminisce about this "thing" that is irrecoverably gone, the body might still be there but it has no soul. A zombie.
Browsing the internet today left me feeling empty.
